The second episode of Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us has taken a little while to arrive but now that it has it is every bit as entertaining as the first, even if it does seem a little on the short side.

Once again we are following Bigby as he continues his journey to solve the new cases of murder that are popping up all over Fabletown. And once again the shining spot light is on the presentation and storytelling.

Everything kicks off by dumping us into the situation following on from the first episode. Bigsby is continuing to investigate the happenings of the previous days and a few things don’t seem to make much sense. There’s a couple of plot twists that pop up early on and really throw the whole story on it’s head. We then follow Bigsby as he tries to crack the case using any means necessary. In one early scene we are presented with a torture scene that really allows you to go to work on the Woodsman. An indication that this game plans to take a darker nature in tone. From there on it’s a continuation of exploring the world presented to us in order to solve the case at hand.

The Wolf Among Us

Episode 2 opens up a few new locations while rehashing some of the previous ones. What’s really great about The Wolf Among Us is just how imaginative it is with it’s use of characters and locations. It takes what we know from our childhoods and shakes them violently up into something totally different. As someone who has never ventured into the Fable comic series it’s a joy to walk into a dingy strip club named Pudding and Pie and argue with it’s pimp owner Georgie Porgie in a manner never imagined. Other characters introduced this time around include Hansel who is Georgie’s muscle and Ariel the little Mermaid who now works at the strip club. Not to spoil the story but these situations play out for around 1-2 hours as you move from location to location, which is a little short even for episodic content. Visually the game remains as the first and the sound is again very similar.

What’s clear through playing The Wolf Among Us is that it’s the fantastic and imaginative world that really grips ahold of you and I for one can’t wait to jump back in once the third episode is finally released.
